You’ve heard people say they feel the day’s stress in their neck and shoulders…others talk about feeling butterflies in their stomach before a meeting or event…what they’re doing, whether realized or not, is validating the relationship between their mind and body.
Our minds tell us of what we already know in small and often limited ways, while our bodies subtly reveal our issues in their entirety. The body is where we carry around life’s challenges and where we literally feel the results of living…it holds the answers to solving short term problems and remains the key to long term personal growth.
Together, we’ll work through a whole person approach to get in touch with yourself by better listening to what your body tells you.

Whether working with individuals or couples, my goal is to collaborate with you to develop a trusting relationship with yourself by facing your pain, anger and fears in a safe, comfortable way. My blend of formal studies in psychology, philosophy, religion, and Inner Relationship Focusing supports both short term practical problem solving and long-term personal growth.
I believe deep down, you already know what’s right for you and just need to learn how to recognize and interpret it. When you do, you’ll love and respect yourself for who you truly are. This heightened intuitive self-respect leads to better relationships, greater control of your emotions, enhanced abilities to be creative and solve problems…and most of all, a more joyful life.
Please feel free to give me a call to learn more about how individual and couple sessions work. There is no cookie cutter approach…everything is tailored to your individual needs.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Focusing Trainer. President of the Seattle Counselors Association.
My lifelong desire to understand the world around me led me to degrees in philosophy and religion. Although I studied psychology as an undergraduate, it was my exposure to Focusing, and gaining a deeper understanding of myself, that urged me to concentrate on psychology in depth.
At Seattle University I earned my master’s degree in Existential Phenomenological Psychology. I then worked in agency and school settings putting my newfound knowledge to work with adolescents, parents and teachers…while I concurrently studied postgraduate training in Family Systems Therapy from the Montlake Institute.
Through private practice in West Seattle and Vashon Island, I’ve developed a style of therapy blending psychology, philosophy, religion and Focusing, intent on helping people connect emotionally with themselves and others.

In their own words…
How has focusing helped you?
“Focusing has helped me be with difficult feelings that before would overwhelm me and prevent me from connecting with myself and others. In the past these feelings of depression, rage and lonliness were like enemies wrestling me down to the ground and holding me in a headlock. At times I would be held there for weeks or months wanting an escape. Now I feel like I have a tool to use that provides a nice distance and opens up my field of vision to see and experience the feelings more fully and safely. I am able to comfortably listen to them, feel touched by them and work with them and be transformed in the process. I am much more aware of other feelings like gratitude, joy, and connection and my life feels richer. What I like about focusing is I can do it by myself since I learned how to do it and I can do it anytime.”
How would you describe my approach to therapy?
“What I like best about your approach to therapy is the attention you place on our relationship. It is a warm and caring partnership that is mutual. We work together in the here and now making the experience feel alive and changing. It's more than talk therapy.”
“Working with you helped me to tune in to my inner voice and learn to trust it. It’s a skill set I rely on heavily in my coaching work and also in my business and personal life. I feel more balanced in making decisions based on logic and intuition rather that using the , “What should I be doing,” method. Being able to tap into my inner self has taken me to a new level, leaving me with a strong sense of self and self trust…leading me down a new course in life…a more authentic, courageous course.”
