Hi, I’m Jeffrey Morrison. Throughout my life I’ve been interested in understanding the world around me. My undergraduate work was in philosophy and religion and included many psychology and art classes as well. This was not the most marketable degree but I learned to think and understand my experience in new ways. As I was pondering my future between college and graduate school I learned Focusing. Focusing gave me a tool for deepening my understanding of myself. It also helped reconnect me to what I most enjoyed studying. This led me to Seattle University and a master’s degree in Existential Phenomenological Psychology. For many years after graduate school I worked in agency and school settings with adolescents, parents and teachers. With summers off, I pursued my interests in outdoor education as a regional director of an outdoor adventure company. During this time I continued my studies with postgraduate training in Family Systems Therapy from the Montlake Institute.
My life changed when I met my wife while hiking in the Cascade Mountains. After the growth, changes and adjustment of marriage and parenthood, my wife and I did something radical. We asked ourselves questions like “where do we want to raise our family” and ‘what do we really want to do with our careers.” We now live on Vashon Island and I have a private practice in West Seattle. Private practice has given me the opportunity to develop my own unique style of therapy, which incorporates Focusing as well as many other skills and learning. My strength as a therapist is helping people connect emotionally with themselves and others. To that end I look forward to working with you in therapy, a guided Focusing session or in a Focusing workshop. Thank you for visiting my web site!
Jeffrey Morrison is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and soon to be Certified Focusing Trainer.
